Well, sort of. I was thinking about some of the old Republic Pictures serials I watched as a kid (no, I’m not that old – just saw some reruns). Commando Cody (played by George Wallace – no, not the politician or comedian) was the hero of Radar Men of the Moon, a 12 episode series that ran in 1952.

With what looked to be a cardboard helmet and jetpack, Cody would successfully fight off  the moon men and fly into that proverbial sunset at the touch of his nipple buttons. His costume may seem crude by today’s standards, but what a marvel he would have been to children of that era.

Wouldn’t it be great if Cody was revived today? Here are a couple of sketches of some updated costume ideas. My preference is the design on the left!
